Lake Paradox
Club is located on 400 acres of private land at the
west end of Paradox Lake in the Adirondack Park.
We are one mile East of Exit 28 of the Northway
(Interstate 87) on River Road, just off Route 74.
We offer twelve rental houses, a private beach, docks
and recreational facilities. I, Helen Wildman, my
daughter Kelley, and my granddaughter Tina are the
fourth, fifth and sixth generation members of our
family who are currently involved in the property.
My daughter Kasey, another fifth generation family
member, has been living in Tennessee but grew up spending summers
here and finally moved up here permanently with her son, Tony, another
sixth generation family member, and her husband, Dan Sheley. She
continues to contribute to our operation by
providing this website. Many of our tenants return regularly
(some for several generations) but there is also room
for newcomers - particularly if you are flexible about
the time when you wish to come.
Our houses are
quite large - three to five bedrooms. They have
full electric kitchens, screened porches and
fireplaces. Westward, Breezes, and Birches are year-round
houses available for rental at any time of year.
The houses are completely furnished except for linens
and blankets. Facilities include a private
natural sand beach for swimming, complimentary rowboats
and a canoe, baseball field, volleyball court, asphalt
tennis court, horseshoe pitch and basketball
backstop. Outboards (4hp and 6hp), a Sunfish
sailboat, kayaks (NEW!), and canoes are available for rent.
Hiking, mountain climbing and camping are possible not
only in the neighboring Hammond Pond, Pharaoh Lake or
Hoffman Notch Wilderness areas and on our 400 acres of
private land, but in the High Peaks region not far
away. There is good fishing in Paradox Lake for
bass, pike, pickerel, lake trout and perch. The
lake is also stocked with rainbow trout.
We are open
all year. Try a family vacation when our
off-season rates are in effect. Spring, while the
rivers are full, is a good season for canoeing and
fishing. In the fall, as the weather cools, the
hiking is excellent and the color spectacular.
Then, when the lake freezes solid in the winter, there
is ice fishing or cross country skiing and
snowshoeing. Lake Paradox Club has become a
tradition for our many families and friends who return
year after year in all seasons to enjoy the unspoiled
beauty of the lake and the surrounding
Adirondacks.
